The perfect birthday gift
April 11, 2008Wednesday 04/02/08 @ 11:00 a.m. , my daughters mare (Danielle’s Ginger Snap) gave birth to (Ginger Snaps Mimic) or ( Mimic). I notified my daughter to hurry and bring Kenzi (3y/o) to come and see her new horse. As soon as they arrived the 2 of them bonded immediately.
Mimic was less than 3 hours old and the 2 of them spent the whole day together getting to know one another, loving, and playing. Ginger (Mimics Dame) has always loved Kenzi and watched over the 2 of them as if she’d had twins. So, when the foal and my grand daughter got tired they simply lay down in the hay of one stalls for a rest/nap while I was cleaning up the birthing stall. My daughter and I caught it all on camera and I don’t believe I have ever had anymore beautiful a moment in my life. Ginger stood watch over the 2 of them until I finished her stall. They both napped for almost an hour with her watching over them.
Yesterday was the first time Kenzi and Mimic have seen each other since Mimic was born. Now mind you, foals have to be imprinted at birth and apparently Kenzi did just that, because the 2 of them picked up right where they left off and played hard again all yesterday afternoon. If somebody comes by and ask one of us whose horse the foal is, Kenzi chimes in real quick. “Mimic is mine all mine and you cant have her!”.
Christmas Eve
January 7, 2008In getting ready for Santa Claus when we put out cookies and milk we saw that she wanted to eat the cookies. We asked her if she wanted Santa to leave her some cookies for the morning and she said “no I want gifts” So Santa ate all the cookies.
